Justice - Miscarried

The case was in the court for several months now.

The lawyer used to assure them from time to time, that the case would be thrown out of the court as it had no "valid" points. And his assurances did not come cheap. They trusted him, feeling that it was worth all the trouble, if the family is not torn apart.

For a few weeks they did not hear anything from the lawyer. Upon enquiring, it was made known that the judgement had already been given, in the favour of the rich & influential opposite party, as this family's lawyer was not present in the court for a few consecutive hearings to defend the case. The shock of knowing that the judgement had been already passed as well as the judgement in itself, both, tore the family apart.

When confronted, the lawyer denied having any knowledge about the hearings and maintained that as the reason for not attending them. He washed off all the responsibility of the case from his hands with the throwing of the case file on the table at which they were sitting.

Integrity nil. Conscience nil.

Family destroyed. Lives ruined.

Justice hopelessly miscarried.

    1. It is so convoluted & lawyers go out of the way to make things diffcult that even witnesses who could help cases choose not to come forward. So, one can imagine the state of the main parties involved in any case. The ones with zero influence and very little money can happily forget getting ANY justice.

    1. I sometimes wonder when people say that goodness, ethics and such like are stronger. Are they really?

    1. Thank you for visiting Aditi. I would say more than the system, it's the people manning the system who have made a mockery of it. Systems can be fixed if broken.

  7. For most people today, even those who a certain they are honest, upright citizens, integrity is an old- fashioned and old- world concept, too rigid to be made a part of their everyday life.

Thus do they betray their lack of integrity- to life.
